Before I became a full time Columbus real estate agent I believed these 2 myths to be true:
- All real estate agents perform the same work when they represent buyers.
- Real estate agents get big commissions for showing a few homes and submitting a contract.
Sounds like you can pick anyone with a license, if you want them to make easy money!
Don’t believe it! Both of these myths are not true. At least if we refer to professional real estate agents, like myself, that make it their missions to serve buyers and make their home buying experience pleasant.
Last Friday evening at 9 o’clock I received a phone call. I usually pick up the phone every day of the week including weekends till 10 or 11 pm, so that’s not unusual.
The caller was a home buyer. Not my buyer. As it turned out they had an agent who left it to her client to find answers to their home buying questions. When the buyer saw my name on the Internet, she called me.
I am glad to answer a question or two. But at the same time I felt really bad for the caller. Their agent left them hanging out there by themselves. “My agent does not know what she’s doing.” the caller said, “That’s why I called you.”
I would be embarrassed, if one of my customer calls another real estate agent, because I don’t do my job.
I strongly believe that it is my responsibility as a buyer’s agent to get all of my client’s questions answered, even, if I don’t know the answer myself.
Here’s another story, that confirmed to me that my buyers receive the exceptional service they deserve.
A couple of weeks ago I talked to a title agent with whom we did a number of closings. He said: “Susanne you are different. You schedule all inspections, appraisals and closing details for your customers. You are an exceptions. Most buyers have to do this by themselves.”
I never even thought twice about doing the legwork for my buyers. That’s what a professional real estate agent is supposed to do to earned their commission.
If you hire me, you expect to buy a house. It is my job as a professional agent to make this transaction happen in the most convenient way for you. There is no reason why you as my buyer would have to find a contractor for repair quotes or a property inspector. I have a team that can handle any part of the transaction and I will make the call.
The same is true for financing your purchase. I will refer you to lenders that I worked with before and who can close the deal. Lenders are very picky these days, especially, if you are buying a HUD home or bank-owned property. Many mortgage brokers will tell you they can get you a loan. You may be surprised how few actually deliver.
I will also schedule the inspections, arrange for utilities being turned on at the appraisal, coordinate the lender and the title company and help you close your home purchase successfully.
That’s why you need to work with a professional real estate agent. You have enough to worry when you decide to buy a house. Let me take care of the leg work, so you don’t have to. This will save you lots of time and money!
