The Memorial Tournament has been held at the Muirfield Village Golf Club since 1976. Every year the world’s top golfers assemble in Dublin OH during the week after Memorial Day for one of the most prestigious golf competitions of the PGA tour.
The Muirfield Village Golf Club
It was designed by Columbus native Jack Nicklaus for both players and spectators. The course is challenging, I am told, but its arena style design around the greens makes it super friendly for spectators.
Nicklaus did not only have players and spectators in mind when he designed the Muirfield Village Golfcourse. It was designed as an exclusive neighborhood, now simply known as Muirfield Village.
When you walk along the golf course during the Memorial Tournament you will have an opportunity to see some of the most exclusive homes built in Central Ohio. Golf course homes adhere to strict design standards, based on earthly colors and the unmistakable cedar shingle roofs.
The Memorial Tournament
A week before the Memorial Tournament I had an opportunity to see some of the Muirfield Village homes from the inside. The Dublin Women’s Club held its annual Tour of Homes. All of homes of this year’s tour were located in Muirfield Village. Two were in the exclusive Estates of Muirfield Village.
We saw the inside of OSU football coach Urban Meyer’s castle, as well as the homes from other well known Central Ohio business people. Beside of Coach Meyer, Jack Nicklaus himself owns a residence in this exclusive subdivision, which sits like an island in the golf course.

Most Muirfield Village homes are unique, exclusive, spacious residences with beautifully landscaped gardens. Homes on the golf course are valued between $500K and $4 million. You can get a great view of these backyards from the golf course while you walk along with the players at the Memorial Tournament.

Dublin Tour of Homes
During the Dublin Tour of Homes we noticed that many of these Muirfield Village homes are almost 30 years old. Some of the features you see inside are dated, some of the decor is not modern, and layouts may be obsolete by today’s luxury home standards.
Compare the Muirfield Village residences to the homes presented at the annual Parade of Homes in Jerome Village, just a few miles to the North West. The interiors of Parade homes are decorated by professional designers and equipped with the latest in home technology. The layouts are probably different than most traditional Muirfield homes. However, Parade homes are usually built on tiny lots with limited landscaping and yard areas. They definitely lack the distinct view of the Muirfield Village Golf Course from your backyard.
If You Plan to Buy in Muirfield Village
If you consider buying in Muirfield Village, I strongly recommend that you consider the cost of upgrades. While these homes are great places to live as they are located. You may have to spend some serious money for renovations, if you want a totally modern home.
On the other hand you won’t find a better, more exclusive location anywhere in Ohio. And that’s what real estate is all about.
