Central Ohio has a long equestrian tradition. For 50 years Columbus has hosted the All American Quarter Horse Congress – the largest single-breed horse show in the world. The Congress opens on Thursday Oct. 6, 2016 and runs until the end of the month.
As a horse enthusiast you may be searching for a property that accommodates you and your horses. Farms with stalls and arenas are hard to find. There’s no search term on the MLS that identifies a horse farm or an equestrian property.
Horse Properties on the MLS
I compiled a list of horse properties for sale as of the end of September 2016.
The map below shows 93 horse properties on at least 4 acres of land that are currently listed for sale on the Columbus MLS. I used search terms like “barn”, “stall”, “arena”, and “horse”.
The dots on the map are color coded as you can see in the legend: red means more expensive, white is less expensive.
How Much Do You Need to Invest?
The most expensive equestrian estate is listed for $10 million; it is located near Bellefontaine (see star on map). It comes with a 6,700 sqft luxury home and 345 acres of and.
The least expensive property is listed for a mere $59,900 in West Mansfield. It needs a lot of work, but comes with outbuildings and sits on 5.5 acres.
19 of the properties are offered for more than $1 million, but 48 are listed below $500K.
The price on my exclusive listing in Plain City was just reduced to $499,900. This is one of the best deals you can find just 20 minutes from Dublin, with a beautiful custom-built home on a 5 acre lot.
